who owns the boat, Ralph Cobb, is Gemma’s grandad. See you later, bye,’ Pete called, driving away.
‘Well, blow me. Your grandad knew Mr Cobb very well. They used to go fishing together. It’s a small world,’ sighed Emily as she and Elise waved them off.
‘Perhaps Dad could take me fishing one day. Gemma goes out with her grandad.’
‘We’ll see,’ smiled Elise’s mum.
On their way home, Pete suggested buying a birthday card for Gemma. ‘Good idea, Dad. Can we stop off at the retail park? I can get a pretty card and a gift from the accessory shop, and Mrs Harris has been so kind. Maybe I could buy her a box of chocolates as a thank you.’
‘Call your mum and ask her if she fancies fish and chips for dinner tonight. We’ll pick them up on the way back.’

On Easter Sunday morning, at spot on a quarter to eleven, Steve dropped his three passengers off to board the harbour boat. Gemma waved from the cabin. ‘Here they come, Grandad!’
He went on board to say hello to Mr Cobb and arranged a second trip to the jetty at the rear of the coastguard cottage where Mrs Harris would be waiting. Steve said cheerio to the girls. Pete had called him last night and told him they had seen the boy in Heath Road. Walking back to the car, he decided to take a detour and take a look. He had an hour or so to spare before taking Emily and Freddie for lunch with Alice.
