by arsonists, gutted the premises on 14th February 1994. A passing motorist noticed the fire and by the time firemen arrived
the roof had collapsed, and the windows blown out. I went into the interior in 1996 and found the premises as shown, with glass, rubble and water-damaged old worksheets everywhere. The site was sold for development and demolition of the remaining buildings was completed in 2000. Shortly after, house building started leading to the Foundry Walk estate which now covers the area.
The name “Foundry Walk” is the only remaining evidence of this company’s existence, whose skills with cast iron were world renowned and second to none.
As you enter the estate today, a modern recreation of the original stone company name has been inserted into one wall of a house.
