Thrapston Primary School.................................................
What are our youngsters getting up to at the Primary School?
Media Crew News
This year about 12 year 6 children have volunteered to help the staff produce blogs to inform parents of what their children have been learning. Two of this group have also written an update for the local community.
In February, parents and guardians of both KS2 students had the chance to have a look at their children’s work and look around their classrooms. Also during February, Year 1 and Year 2 had a raptorxotics day, where they learnt about animal classification and food chains – there was a wide range of animals for them to handle. The parents of all children had their second chance of the year to meet with their child’s teacher and have a more in-depth discussion about their child’s progress with their learning.
During March, Year 3 also have an exciting day planned, when an animal expert will come in, bringing exotic pets such as scorpions, spiders and snakes [with parental permission and under supervision of a trained professional]. As well as exploring the animals they will also be learning about the tribes, the nature and why we should protect it. On the 27th, class photos will be held, allowing adults to buy pictures of their child/ children with their class.
You can find out about other events and learning opportunities by visiting our website at www.thrapston-primary.northants.sch.uk or visiting our Facebook page.
Volunteers to hear children read!
We would like to ask if anybody would be willing to give up some time each week to come into school to hear children read.
This is such a valuable opportunity for children to practise their reading skills; through developing their ability and understanding, to gain confidence and
find enjoyment in reading. If you would be interested please contact Mrs Kenny or Miss Smith on their email addresses (dkenny@ thrapston.net, hsmith@thrapston.net) or the school telephone number (01832 732512) so that a suitable time can be arranged, along with the DBS paperwork.
We are very thankful to the people who come in to help already and would be very grateful to anyone else willing to give up some of their time, every contribution is valued and makes a difference!
