 Lt Col Claire Budge graduated from Cambridge Veterinary School in 2004 and spent
two years in mixed civilian practice before commissioning into the RAVC in 2006. She then completed assignments as a Junior Officer with 102 MWD Support Unit in Sennelager, the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, 104 MWD Sqn
and the Defence Animal Training Regiment as well as deploying on Op TELIC 9/10 and Op HERRICK 13.
Following promotion to OF-3 and ICSC(L), Major Budge completed an IG2 appointment as SO2 Vet
Pol & Gov, Army HQ before undertaking Sub-Unit Command at 104 MWD Sqn. Subsequently she was assigned to an E2 role as part of the Personnel Change Team in

Army HQ, delivering quick impact change projects in DPers’ AoR
and supporting the delivery of the directorate agile transformation. This was followed by an Op RESCRIPT trawl as SO2 Res FuOps in the LOC, responsible for the mass mobilisation of over 1200 reservists, and then a brief period as SO2 Med Plans in the Operate pillar of the LOC.
She promoted to Lt Col in 2021 and was initially assigned to the
role of COS / SO1 People HQ AMS, before assuming command of 1st Military Working Dog Regiment
in December 2021, her dream job. She is passionate about developing people and has completed a MSc
in Defence Leadership Studies and is also currently undertaking a PG Cert in Defence Medical Leadership.
This includes a L7 Coaching and Mentoring qualification and is
due to commence a MSc in People Analytics in Sep 22. She has also completed a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice and maintains
a keen interest in canine sports medicine and is a certified canine fitness trainer!
Outside of work she enjoys adventures with her black Labrador Rory, open water swimming, reading and cocktails!
