CARVERY QUIZ NIGHTS
As a mainstay of Club activities, it is fair to say that the Carvery Quiz Nights rank up there with the best of them.
As far back as memory will take you, the Club has staged its popular Carvery Quiz Nights on the second Thursday of each month, running through the ‘off-season’ from October to April, but latterly ending in March. Regularly attracting at least ten teams, who compete for the coveted Trophy awarded at the end of each season to the prevailing winners.
Each month teams of six players are teased with twenty general knowledge questions; some embarrassingly easy, others devilishly difficult! Teams are awarded one point for each correct answer and the team with the highest score is hailed the winner of that round and rewarded with a bottle of bubbly, kindly donated by the Boathouse Hotel
& Restaurant, who host the evening for
us at their venue in Hythe MarinaVillage. At the end of the season the team that has amassed the most points overall are crowned Champions.
Quiz Master duties alternate between Anton Bates and Robin Funnell, each delivering the quiz in their own unique style. Highlights of the last season were the quiz on 12th December hosted by Anton delivering his cunningly crafted conundrums, followed by Robin on 9th January with his ponderable posers.
Great fun, with a delicious carvery supper, washed down with whatever you fancy, and a chance to show off your expansive general knowledge.
