We were fortunate that we were able
to appoint two more Trustees. Stephanie House and Tina Daniels agreed to join us in October and to help with our objectives.
For 2020 we hope to get many more disadvantaged young people and young
carers afloat. We start with short taster sessions as an introduction to water activities and to build confidence. From there, other sessions can be arranged for RYA sailing courses or recreational on the water activities such as sailing, kayaking or paddle-boarding.
We also want to hold more family days
at Gins and in August we are hoping to get some of our young sailors on to sail training ships as part of the Southampton Mayflower 400 celebrations.

CONRAD MANNING RACING – HONORARY MEMBER
Following several years racing short-handed offshore on Figaros and IMOCA60s, Conrad Manning is currently a design engineer at the renowned firm Ker Yacht Design in Winchester.
Sailing has been a significant part of his life from a very young age; he began his career in dinghies before moving onto yachts and eventually falling in love with offshore sailing – even racing the Fastnet just after his 18th birthday. This passion followed him through university and the Artemis Academy which provided Conrad with the opportunity to race short-handed for two years.
In 2014 Conrad competed in the Round Britain and Ireland race, which saw some competitors exit the race due to the strong winds, which battered all those who dared to compete - including Conrad and his teammate in their famous bright pink
Figaro! This experience and the duo’s achievement in completing the race against all the odds led him to the opportunity
to work on the Artemis Ocean Racing IMOCA60 alongside 10 selected British sailors as part ofVendée 2020Vision.
Following an injury which left him land- bound, he focused on how to combine a degree as a Naval Architect and experiences as a sailor to bring STEAM and sailing to life for kids of all ages. After a fantastic 2019 reaching hundreds of young people, he looks forward to getting back offshore and continuing to change the perceptions of engineering and sailing.
