                                  GLANCE AT
THE PAST
Eric Franklin looks back
This month I am showing eight views of old Thrapston, all from my archives except one old family postcard loaned by Ian Coleman. Apart from Johnson’s butchers’ shop, which stood
on the corner of Bridge Street and Cosy Nook, and the train which has just been over the viaduct, all should be familiar today.
My archive of old pictures of Thrapston and district, including many of the surrounding villages, is now well over 1000 in number. I am happy to include any requests for specific locations/ communities, in future ‘Glances’.
Finally, thanks to everyone who commented on my article last month on Slipton Treacle Mine. For those who doubted whether this was a real industry, I confess that it was all made up as was the famous spaghetti tree story shown on the BBC in 1957.
