Bill Corn of the Cheshire Regimental Association died on 14 February 2020, aged 98.
CORNES
Mr Don Cornes of the Cheshire Regimental Association died on 10 June 2020.
CRADDOCK
526283 Capt Ian John Craddock died in Guyana, Central America on 27 July 2020 aged 53. Ian was granted a SSC in 1 WFR on 11 April 1987 joining C Coy at Oakington
Bks, Cambridge. On completion of NITAT training, he deployed with the Bn to Omagh where he took part in Operation Tantalus in May 1989. He was posted to JIB Shorncliffe after an accident from December 1989 to August 1990, after which he re-joined the Bn. In 1991, the Bn deployed to Cyprus where he attended the Accelerated Freefall Skydiving Course in Dhekelia. completing over 55 jumps. In 1992, he deployed
to the Falklands as part of the Resident Infantry Company, returning to Cyprus at the end of his tour. Ian left the Regular Army on 12th June 1993 and upon discharge was commissioned into The Artists’ Rifles and served with 21 SAS (V).
CRUMP
Cpl Peter Thomas CRUMP died on 2 May 2020 aged 85 years. Peter enlisted into the Worcestershire Regiment at Norton Barracks serving in the Caribbean travelling on the 2 February 1957 on the
SS Dilwara being posted at the Bahamas, Jamaica, Belize, British Honduras and later in Germany. He specialised on the Vickers 303 machine gun. Peter discharged from the army in late 1959.
DICKERSON
Capt Timothy D DICKERSON of Norwich died on 5 June 2020. ‘Tim’ was commissioned in 1962 from Mons Officer Cadet School and joined the 1st Bn The Sherwood
Foresters in Palace Barracks, Holywood,
NI as a Pln Comd. He served with A Coy
in Colchester and deployed with the Bn
to Cyprus on Boxing Day 1963 during the Cyprus Crisis and then moved with the Regiment to Munster in Germany. He left the Regiment in December 1965 and joined the Sultan of Oman’s Armed Forces where he saw operational service with the Desert Regiment in Dhofar. In 1970 he joined the Abu Dhabi Defence Force (ADDF) where
he was 2IC of A Company of 1st Infantry Regiment before becoming GSO3 (Int) in HQ ADDF where he served until the mid 1970’s.
DOBSON
Andrew Dobson, of the Staffordshire Regiment, died on 26 September 2020. Dobson was commissioned into the STAFFORDS at the end of 1993 and retired in 2000.
GANDY
24150243 Stephen Gandy of the Cheshire Regiment died 2 January 2020.
GARROD
25024333 LCpl Lee Michael ‘Gun Dog’ GARROD died 30 December 2020 aged 49. He enlisted on 23 April 1993 and served with 1 WFR in the UK, NI and Bosnia until 10 March 2000. He held the
GSM NI and NATO Bosnia medals.
GALLAGHER
Major Paul Gallagher passed away at Macclesfield Hospital after an illness with Cancer on 18 Dec 20. Major Gallagher was one of the original members of Mercian Volunteers when it was formed in 1967.
He had been commissioned into the 5/6th battalion, North Stafford’s TA and was based at the Burton on Trent Drill Hall. He commanded the Anti-Tank platoon with the Mercian Volunteers. He was then appointed 2ic C Company before becoming OC
C Company at Burton-on-Trent from Jan 76 to Jul 77. In 1981 Major Gallagher took over as Officer Commanding A Coy 1 MERCIAN at Stockport. Paul had always combined a busy sales career, family life, social life, and Territorial Army Career for many years.
GEE
24017678 Pte Derek John GEE died
on 19 December 2020 aged 73. Derek enlisted with the 1st Bn The Sherwood Foresters in September 1964 and following training at Lichfield, served at Mons Officer Cadet School and with the Bn in Munster Germany. Derek was a keen boxer and was a member of the Bn boxing team He was discharged in 1967.
GODDARD
433115 Major F J (James) Goddard MBE of the Cheshire Regiment died on 21 March 2020.
HAMMERSLEY
Rev PAR HAMMERSLEY of Hereford
died on 9 June 2020 aged 84. Peter
was called up for National Service in September 1954 and after basic training
at Norton Barracks and a brief spell in the 1st Bn The Worcestershire Regiment, he was commissioned from Eaton Hall OCS into the Regiment, and then served on secondment with the 1st Bn The Nigeria Regt. In October 1956 he joined 7th Bn The Worcestershire Regiment in Kidderminster and then Dudley before transferring to 23 SAS (V) and rising to Command A Sqn. After working in Zambia he returned to UK and was ordained and served in several parishes in the Midlands and as a TA chaplain before retiring.
  DODD
 John Dodd of the Cheshire Regimental Association died on 27 Jun 2020, aged 61.
DODSWORTH
4669046 Maj E C DODSWORTH TD, died
on 23 April 2020. ’Ted’ originally enlisted in the Brigade of Guards but later transferred to the 1st Bn The Gloucestershire Regiment
serving in the UK and in Kenya during the emergency. He later joined the 7th Bn The Worcestershire Regiment TA and was commissioned. In 1967. He transferred
to the Staffordshire Territorials TAVRA111 and on the expansion of the TAVR, joined the Mercian Volunteers and eventually commanded HQ Coy. He transferred to 2nd Bn Mercian Volunteers and Commanded HQ Coy and finally moved back to 1st
Bn Mercian Volunteers as 2IC until his retirement.
DONNELLY
Andrew Donnelly passed away in May 2020. His funeral was held on 27th May at 1130 hrs at Gornal Crem. His funeral was attended by Watchman, Standards, a Stafford badge
floral tribute, Alfie and Tomo speaking, and the Last Post bugled with his mates lining the street for him.
FARRINGTON
Mr Colin Farrington of the Cheshire Regimental Association died on 17 July 2020.
FINLAY
Terry Finlay BEM, who served with the 1st & 3rd Bn of the Cheshire Regiment, died on 7 October 2020.
FULLER
24380856 CSgt (Drum Major) Earl ‘Sam’ FULLER of Lichfield died on 29
April 2020 aged 60. Sam enlisted into the Army, on
6 August 1975, as a Junior Drummer at Depot Lichfield.
On completion of training, he joined 1 WFR in NI, first with C Coy and then the Drums Pln. Throughout his career, Earl served
in Mainland UK, NI, Belize, Cyprus and Bosnia. He discharged from the Army on 17 June 1999.
