RAPTC TRAINING DEVELOPMENT TEAM (TDT)
Maj (MAA) R Lundie RAPTC – SO2 TDT
Do not be under the illusion that TDT is full of “geeks” engrossed in the DSAT process, who are religiously stuck behind a computer from 8 in the morning until 5 at night; it’s
just not like that...
OC TDT – Another fantastic 12 months has rapidly passed us by at HQ RAPTC. The TDT has been at the heart of numerous successes delivered by all of the functional branches that make up the HQ. Blessed with an extremely talented team of analysts, I have had the pleasure of leading the team whilst completing my nal year in role as the OC. Admittedly not my job of choice however, once I got my head round DSAT I have to admit that I have loved the job and the many rewards that come with working in the HQ. The superb work conducted by the team will have come to fruition by time you read my notes and I’m super con dent that the many changes will de nitely enhance PTI capability and the support we give to the Field Army to ensure Service personnel are ‘Fit to Fight’.
I have continually tried to sell the role within TDT during my 30 months in post as there was a perception that it was a place for a speci c type, not so. The TDT has without question achieved my intent to work hard whilst doing what they signed up to do and that’s play sport, plan and take part in expeditions and to support their wider Corps responsibilities. Every TDT staff member saw promotion during my tour, reaping the rewards of their own hard efforts. The TDT have always been at the centre of the morale component of the HQ and indeed Fox Lines as a whole, be it during normal daily business or whilst organising and taking part in many team bonding functions. If these factors alone don’t sell what is a cracking role, then nothing will.
I won’t steal the team’s key points and the following notes they have produced will give a feel for their roles, which they thoroughly enjoy and is evident to see. All it leaves me to do is close by thanking everyone who served me to a rst-class standard during my time and to wish Maj Chris Deed and his team every success as I take up my new role as SO2 PD at HQ FTC... Job Done!
Thoughts of the Team
TDT is a hub of activity juggling a ne work balance between PD courses and HQ RAPTC work strands; the future. This year has been the most successful regarding output since the Corps introduced a TDT with the PT analysts having completed the development of a new look AAPTI cse, on the back of the PTI review; a collaborative piece of work between TDT, CDC and Miss Bridgitte Swales (the UKSCA tutor at Fox Lines). The Field Army will now receive a more educated and experienced Instructor following the introduction of the PTI log book, which delivers CPD in the work place. By time the MBS has gone to print the RAPTC Instructor cse will also be complete and in the process of being delivered by the ASPT Instructors.
Across the of ce on the AT desk, the analysts, in conjunction with the design team at HQ JSMTC completed a full DSAT overhaul of all 69 cses within the 15 JSAT schemes. This was a mammoth task and should not be underestimated. It is extremely satisfying to say that for the rst time EVER, ALL PT and AT cses are DSAT aligned.
Social media - For those who are not aware, the Corps social media platforms are administered by the TDT of ce. Social media is a great asset which can help showcase the achievements of RAPTCIs to the wider Army and of course the general public.
