Museum Curator, Mrs Debbie Winter the Regimental Accountant for the Association and Mrs Jules Fairclough the Regimental Association Assistant clerk and right hand woman for the Regt Sec. Derek hosted us after the parade and over coffee and cake he kept us amused with his stories and strong opinions on the EU Referendum including his prediction of the result (correct as it turned out). Derek has since left Chelsea Hospital and moved into Private sheltered accommodation and we wish him well.
Remembrance. Remembrance and commemoration has been the catalyst for a number of parades this year and the rst was when the Corps SM represented the RAPTC at the National Church Service in Manchester Cathedral on 2 Jul 16 for the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme Commemorative Service.
The annual National Remembrance Services took place across the country in November and the Corps was well represented at both the Field of Remembrance and the Cenotaph Service and

March past. It is worth noting that at the Cenotaph this year the Association received probably the best coverage on the television by the BBC and other stations for a number of years. We suspect this was a result of Lt Col (Retd) George Gelder informing an old friend he met in the form up area that this was possibly his last parade; his old friend who just happened to be directing the cameras on his last day at the event was heard to say as we marched past the Cenotaph “this one is for you George”.
This was followed by members of the Royal Army Physical Training Corps who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan attending the Iraq and Afghanistan Memorial unveiling ceremony, on the 9 March 2017. A short article by the Corps SM and photos of this Service can be found under the Features and Fillers section.
