Routine business for the Gymnasium Staff at 1 Royal Welsh consists of administration and delivery of the Unit PD pathways, including; Rehabilitation, Reconditioning,
Remedial and Company level PD. Additionally the delivery of Warrior PT (supplementary PT), weak swimmers and Spin classes are now a weekly norm for those soldiers in Battalion wanting a little extra physical development.
The Battalion has driven the A3 Wattbike programme and assessment for all injured personnel, ensuring tness and well- being are at the forefront of the Battalion regardless of MSKI. Sport plays a key role in Battalion life and the Gymnasium Staff are heavily involved in the delivery a variety of sports, such as; Boxing (weekly coaching and Inter Coy and Army Inter Unit event coordination), Rugby ( rst team representation, assisting towards last year’s runners up in the Premiership, coaching and team strength and conditioning) and road cycling (Cardiff to Paris).
Non-routine business for the Gymnasium Staff includes; supporting the Battalion’s Pre-JNCO Cadre, running PT stands within the annual Prince of Wales Competition (Military skills and tness), administering Endurance Training Leader courses, the quarterly delivery of an 8 week intensive Reconditioning package known as ‘Dragons Platoon’ and the administration of the Defence Operational Fitness course.
Furthermore the Gymnasium Staff in conjunction with the Army Benevolent Foundation directed the 2016 World Record Bleep Test Attempt raising funds for Service personnel.

The day was a great success and brought together units from across Tidworth and Bulford Garrison for a monumental Garrison Commanders PT session, the turn out on the day was 798 participants, with a member of the Battalion placing second overall.
The Battalion placed rst within 12 Armoured Infantry Brigade for the GOC’s Cup; an annual PD, Sport and AT competition and third in the entire Division, further demonstrating that 1 Royal Welsh are at the forefront of PD, Sport and AT, promoting health, tness and well-being for its soldiers.
