Ihave now been in post for just over a year in which the regiment has entered it commitments year, this has placed a focused effort on supporting nearly all UK and Overseas commitments
due to the regiments versatility. With uncertainty over the future of the camp, (it was announced for closure with no xed date) much needed investment was placed on hold. Following the release of the closure date as not before 2031 investment is now moving forward at a pace gratefully supported by the G7 PD team at HQSW Regional Point of Command (RPOC) and already in receipt of CV equipment and squat racks.

The return to tness pathway has been fully revitalised despite the medical centre (inc Physio) moving some 30 minutes away and which is likely to move even further away this year? The pathway produces an achievable end goal for all those who sustain injury and has continued, despite 4 FTC funded civilian ERI’s in the last 12 months. This has uplifted the MFD’s from 65% to 81% against held strength in just over 12 months, providing much needed deployable manpower for the regiment.
With a disjointed year ahead due to the locations and timeframes of the deployments, the focus will be to remain sustainable through recruitment of suitable potential PTI’s and ensuring they are able to attain a much sought after place on courses. The deployments are predominantly Sig-Sgt heavy therefore nearly all but 2 of the regiments PTI’s will be deployed during the 14 months of commitments by the regiment; this requires some careful planning and management of lessons due to pre-deployment courses, ARB’s and last minute (lots of) tasks.
Events we have assisted and participated in are: RC cross country race, Army Indoor rowing (2nd Team), BAWF, Armed Forces Day, Bath Rugby Foundation Charity Superstars Event, Chippenham Dragon Boat Race (winners), Station Fate, as well as hosting and supporting many Cadet, Reserve and Of cer Cadet units all to promote the regiment and engagement with the local area.
On a personal note I am looking forward to implementing further investment to the gymnasium in order to realise its full potential within my remaining tenure.

After deploying to Afghanistan on a 9-month tour and following a further 6-month attachment to Kenya, and a year in Cyprus; I was looking forward to getting back to the UK and into regimental life, assuming, the appointment at 24 Commando Regiment Royal Engineers in Sep 16. Located in Chivenor Barracks, Barnstaple, North Devon and co-located with Cdo Log, the area offers plenty of opportunity to take up the associated coastline and inland activities, of such a beautiful part of the country. Within the garrison there are circa 2000 personnel using the gymnasium and other facilities (Rugby pitch, Football pitch, Basketball court, Squash court, 5 a side Astroturf, CV suit and a Weights room).
In addition to the very busy delivery of the unit PTP, I am also responsible for delivery and management of the Potential Commando Conditioning Course (PCCC), which has had to
