Thrapston WI.....................................................................................
So much more than jam and Jerusalem – Ann Worboys explains
The image of the WI has gone through many changes. Whatever we expect to find in a
WI group these days has no relation to the picture of only jam making, baking cakes and beetle drives. Yes, we still do those things in some of our groups but there is so MUCH more. Shake off the image of a group of ladies all of a certain age too - we have all ages in our Thrapston WI group and from all walks of life.
Thrapston WI is a thriving and diverse group of members ready to try new things and become part of the community not only of Thrapston but of the wider WI base of groups, interacting and open to new ideas and challenges. We are a generous and lively group, active and interested in the world around us.
Throughout 2018 we managed to fit in a Cocktail and Canapé evening where we listened to William the Butler to Royalty tell us of his experiences, the Big Picnic at Althorp House to mark the Centenary of the Northamptonshire Federation of WIs,
Our committee t-shirt
some lessons in belly dancing, and a talk
by Steve Pateman all about the true story behind the film and stage play ‘Kinky Boots’. One of our members won a trophy for her beautiful handmade socks and we attended the WI AGM, where we were delighted by marvellous talks from William Sitwell and Kate Humble. We finished off the year by making fabulous Christmas wreaths for our front doors, brought to us by Eden flowers,
