ACHIEVEMENTS
The Commanding Officers Coin
Maj K Porter
A CO’s Coin is a formal acknowledgement of everyday excellence within the staff and recruit cohort at ATR(W). The presentation of this award occurs during a Passing Out parade and serves to highlight individual success and excellence and inspire others to look for ways to achieve the same.
They must demonstrate the Values and Standards of the British Army, Civil Service Leadership Statement, as well as the underpinning ethos of ATR(W).
August 2020 – March 2021 Citation
LCpl Eccleston stepped up to act as the Practice Manager for a period of 5 months while the post was gapped. During this time, she was put under pressure to ensure the Dental Centre was ready to reopen after being shut for 5 months due to the Covid 19 pandemic. She handled this with ease, and the feedback from staff was very positive with her calm and delegating approach, which ensured all tasks were completed to a very high standard. This shows that she has
the management and leadership qualities far beyond her current rank.
Not one to just do her job, LCpl Eccleston proactively requested to be a Phase 2 Dental Nurse mentor. She has relished the opportunity and ensured the Dental Centre was prepared and everyone knew their roles. This opportunity has allowed her to demonstrate her leadership qualities. She has approached difficult conversations in a professional and mature manner.
LCpl Eccleston enjoys providing her fluoride clinics. To ensure she works at
the top of her remit she is undertaking
an impression taking course which she self-funded. This has allowed her the opportunity to run her own clinics. She has approached this challenge in a professional and dedicated manner. She knows her limitations, asks for guidance when required and has the ability to reflect on her clinical practice which is a quality of a great and experienced dental nurse.
This is a great achievement for a RADC
LCpl, who competed against 18 deserving citations submitted and sand she was the recipient of one of only four coins awarded. An achievement which I feel should be recognised, rewarded and celebrated with the rest of the RADC Corps Family.
