Key to supporting our own research capability, both now and in the future has been the RAPTC HE programme,
which has continued to develop
over the last 6 months in order to expand on our current offer of a full-time BSc, and now offer an MSc. This will provide
lifestyle that provides the best opportunity of achieving this.

and Wales.
Sgt (SI) Mark Horrix also entered his first British Weightlifting Competition, hitting all of his target lifts and achieving a gold for his weight category. I was also fortunate myself to get away on a very successful week coaching the RAPTC Swimming & Water Polo team in Gibraltar, which was a great experience and opportunity not to be missed.
Looking forward to the next 12 months developing the R&D cell further will be a primary focus with an aim to provide resources and information so that others can develop their knowledge across PD. It will be about providing further opportunities, forging links with other research organisations and allowing RAPTCIs regardless of specialism to grow, whilst promoting the good name of the RAPTC.
       Another work strand
being developed
has been the RAPTC
Coaching Framework.
Fluid by design it can be
moulded to each specialism
and adjusted to meet the
growing research in this area.
Formed of six key elements it will
provide a developmental pathway for
all instructors that can be measured both
objectively and subjectively. It will provide a
mechanism to focus future CPD opportunities and can be linked to further qualifications.
Undertaking this year’s full time BSc in Health and Exercise Science Sgt (SI) Mark Horrix has quickly embraced the opportunity to share the knowledge he has gained, delivering on the Commandant RAPTC conference. This year’s theme focussed on ‘A Generational Approach to Physical Activity’ and the many additional benefits to physical activity that aren’t promoted, yet positively influence behaviour.
These benefits can be linked to particular generations, all of whom have different values, beliefs and motivators to their uptake of physical activity. The recent recruiting campaign focussing on further sub-types within this generational perspective has resulted in increased numbers of applicants. However these applicants bring with them both positive and negative traits in their approach to PD, therefore having this insight will allow RAPTCIs to readily adapt. The RAPTCI will be able to make training and PES relevant to all generations, in a way that attracts them and for individuals to take responsibility to maintaining standards, and adhere to a
