Currently serving my second year as the Unit RAPTCI, and what another great year it has been. 24 Commando is classed as a Major Unit but, due to commitments,
is predominately operating with a Minor Unit strength. 24 Commando is held at high readiness and continuously deployed; either on exercise or deployments all over the world in support of 3 Commando Brigade.
To give you a flavour, so far this year 24 Commando has been deployed on several major deployments conducting winter mountain and artic warfare training in Norway; relations and close quarter combat training with the US Marines in California; guerrilla tactics and jungle training in Belize; and, most recently, working off the shores of United Kingdom in preparation for a major deployment to the Baltics.
Taking into consideration how busy the Unit is, we continue to impress and ‘pack a punch’ within the sporting arena. Often sending scratch teams that have had very little warning and time to train, they still manage to come away with top results; 24 Commando are currently the RE Boxing champions, winning this for the last 2 years. In Sep 18, 24 Commando also entered the Regional Command Indoor Rowing League (RCIRL) and, every month up to the final, the Unit continued to ‘blow it out of the water’ with some impressive rowing results. 24 Commando went onto win the RCIRL by some margin with the second place being 250 points behind.

a beautiful part of the country. The facilities include a rugby pitch, football pitch, basketball court, Squash court, 5 a side astro turf, CV suit and a weights room.
24 Commando is a demanding but hugely rewarding place to work so, if there are any potential RAPTCIs who are thinking of doing the Commando course they should get in touch, as a posting in 3 Commando Brigade is a great privilege and a chance to earn and wear the coveted Green Beret.

29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery (29 Cdo Regt RA) are the Commando trained element of the Royal Artillery, supported by fellow Commando trained RLC and REME
attachments based at The Royal Citadel – Plymouth.
29 Cdo Regt RA serves as a part of 3 Commando Brigade (Cdo Bde) and amphibious warfare is our primary role. The RAPTCIs within 29 Cdo Regt RA are SSgt Liam Baldwin and SSgt Neil
Craven (ERI) who provide all physical and rehabilitation aspects to maintain the unit’s high readiness state. During the last 12 months this robust unit has carried out high profile exercises in Norway, sailed on board Royal Navy ships through the Mediterranean and deployed to California on EX GREEN DAGGER.
