  HEADQUARTERS 101 LOGISTIC BRIGADE
WO1 (SMI) MR Wigley RAPTC
Over the past 12 months this Branch has established PD contacts across 17 units. This has enabled improved
communication links for PD traffic, focusing on the provision of specialist help, guidance and assistance.
Integration with the RPOC SO3 PDs, particularly during PDAs, has led to valuable interventions and the spread of good practice which have driven a significant increase in 101 Log Bde Deployability. Notable successes have come from Unit
PD Climate Assessments, formalised Rehabilitation Platoons in a variety of formats and the passage of information.
Abingdon Invitational BAWF (3 Regt RLC) Nov 18
The 2018 Festival of Sport concentrated on Warrior Fitness. The aim was to expand on APTS and develop the techniques in a competitive environment. This proved successful and we now hold a Bde event every quarter. Looking forward, we aim to make the events even more inclusive; potentially with MLD personnel competing under the appropriate medical guidance or combine an event with a Unit Health Fair.
Evidence of a growing Health and Wellness Ethos within the HQ continues. The “open door” lunch time BAWF group is very popular and we have begun to deploy a FOB locker on exercise to maintain momentum. Individuals are also enjoying success within indoor rowing leagues, polo and mountain biking. We have recently taken delivery of new mountain bikes and the HQ MB club begins with a series of training events this Spring, the aspiration is to begin competing in the Summer.
There has been increasing interest to BCM follow ups. Notably signposting healthy eating and engagement in DNAS, persuading personnel to flag chronic injuries to the MO and utilising self- referral to Physio for new injuries. This in particular is having a dramatic effect on SPs time spent returning to fitness.
Swimming continues to be a mainstay of the HQ 101 Log Bde PTP with SPs enjoying regular pool time and CoC support to attend weak and non-swimmer courses.
Our annual Alpine Skiing Exped to Val Thorens was well received by all participants. We have HQ Staff involved in skydiving and others continue to play sport at all levels up to Combined Services level notably Athletics and Hockey.
In summary, the improved structure and PD working practices across the Bde have proved to be effective, and I look forward to the coming 12 months which will see MATT2 change significantly. It is hoped that the gapped posts in the Bde will be filled and PES rolls out smoothly. I eagerly await the findings of Project 4 (Army Reserve study) which is anticipated to energise the PTPs of our six AR Units and enable them to more realistically embrace APTS. So, for now, the current manning model of 1* RAPTC support to 101 Log Bde remains effective, despite several changes to the Bde ORBAT and the challenges they presented.
