The opportunity to serve in Cyprus is one that I have always relished; my rst 12 month tour to the island was in 2005 as Incremental staff at the Parachute Wing. I also completed Op TOSCA in 2012 in a PD capacity so when the opportunity presented itself to serve once again on this amazing island, it was one that I embraced with open arms.
So after my previous post gaining a vast amount of knowledge and skills from the hugely talented staff at JSMTC it was now time to turn my attention to the processes and management involved around the ‘risk to life’ activities and the procedures and policies that govern training.
The team at JSATW (C), commanded by the former CRSM, Capt Sean Semple (who is sometimes still the RSM) has been hard at work since I last visited the island and the centre is in excellent shape, and that’s not just down to the new paint job! All members of staff have an insatiable appetite to deliver the very best training in their activities of choice and have grasped the concept of work hard, play hard to the best of their abilities. The support from the civilian sector is also paramount to the ef cient running of the centre which at times can be tested to capacity.

I believe that although down time is not always the same that others might experience working ‘on island’, we are rewarded well with the fantastic opportunities that Cyprus has to offer, and a job that really does satisfy anyone who enjoys working in the sunshine for 320+ days per year...
There are a number of changes taking place with regards to expeditions and courses that are available, but there are always opportunities to come out and visit us if you fancy a break from your desk/gym/broom! If you would like to organise an overseas AT expedition then your rst port of call is Miss Sophie Davis at ATG (A). If there is a course you would like to go on yourself, maybe a hopeful AAPTI looking at gaining some pre-requisites or just a member of your unit looking for some quali cations, then please go direct to the ATG(A) website and use the online booking service. Activities delivered here at JSATW (C) include climbing, kayaking/canoeing, parachuting, sub aqua diving, offshore sailing and paragliding. Any further enquiries should be directed to the following email - BFC-DHK-JSATWC-CWO@mod.uk

Aqua Wing went to Malta where they all successfully completed their rst Class Diving exam in addition to diving in testing Feb conditions. James Hollands was able to travel to the Dusseldorf
boat show to see what we will not be buying this year, but the trip proved very useful in keeping up to date with current trends and technological updates.
