Balance and proprioception class therapy
(all revision material can be found on our Moss page). After the assessments, a short interview is conducted in order to give results and discuss potential ERI course start dates (it should be stressed that all applicants will be reviewed on a case by case basis).
The ERI trade offers a robust evidence based approach that will challenge your current understanding of PD. The opportunity to become an extremely knowledgeable and respected tness professional will not only add value to the service that the RAPTC offers to the wider Army, but often meets the forward thinking RAPTCIs’ future career aspirations. Working within clinical guidelines, an RAPTCI who is ‘dual traded’ can offer any Commanding Of cer a more productive injury prevention focus in order to maximise a Unit’s operational effectiveness. The six months of additional learning gives the RAPTCI enhanced personnel management skills alongside a better understanding of what level of PD Service personnel can be trained at. These qualities add signi cant value for any Commander and undoubtedly help to raise the pro le of the RAPTCI.
The course is not for the faint hearted and it would be wrong to assume that it is an attendance course. It is dif cult but the achievement at the end is worth the commitment required. The volume of learning is intense but is more than achievable for anyone who relishes a challenge.
Below are few comments from some RAPTCIs currently on the ERI course:
“The pace of learning is very fast, during foundation you are given a lot of information throughout the rst 2 weeks and it is imperative that you do your own revision after work to consolidate the lessons from that day. Although we have only just nished the lower limb theory module and are currently on placement I am con dent that the information and new skills have already improved my knowledge and ability as a PTI and I have found it greatly bene cial to my own training as well as improving others. The ability to understand the body in more depth enables you to work around injuries and actually prescribing exercises for the injuries rather than just ignore the injured area” Sgt (SI) Jimmy Hull RAPTC

“The ERI course is highly demanding, however very enjoyable if you have a thirst for knowledge it is achievable. My experience so far, I have felt there is a tremendous amount of information taught, especially in the rst 3 weeks of the foundation module but a pattern begins to form as the course continues thus making it easier to take the information on board. The instructors teaching within JSSERI deliver their knowledge to the students in an appealing fashion, they are friendly and offer help and advise to all students when in need” Sgt (SI) Danny Duf n RAPTC
“I am nding it so far challenging yet rewarding. There is a vast amount of information to take on in a relatively short space of time but the knowledge gained far exceeds what I had expected so it is very worthwhile. Having came directly to JSSERI from the ASPT there was little time to adjust, However with hard work and good instruction from the Tri-service Staff, all of the students are doing well and so far enjoying the course and more importantly looking forward to doing the job upon completion” Sgt (SI) Baz Beattie RAPTC
Even though I am only coming to the end of the second module of the course I have gained a mass of knowledge to add to my skill set as an RAPTCI. The Start of the course commenced with the ‘Foundation Module although challenging and intensive it has given me more knowledge not only for the ERI role alone, but has bettered me as a new RAPTC Instructor for a mainstream role in the future” Sgt (SI) Brett Parker RAPTC
“Day 2 of the course was like being hit in the face with heavy encyclopaedia of knowledge. All I could think about was “how am I going to revise this”. As the week progressed I found that even though I was a little out of my depth initially, I was beginning to realise that I had more of an understanding than I rst thought. Into the 2nd and 3rd weeks of foundation I was enjoying learning new subjects and began to get myself into a routine of work, training and revision” Sgt (SI) Cooper RAPTC.
In closing, the course will open your mind to new concepts and approaches to physical training that you can take forwards into any future role - it is an opportunity not to be overlooked. We do not rub skin. We offer evidenced based progressive, individual rehabilitation programs that return injured Service personnel to a level of tness in the most ef cient time possible.
