the Army to start life as a civilian working for the Army Sports Control Board. He has received numerous and well-deserved accolades from across the board for his unstinting service to the Corps during his long career and we wish him, Sharon and his family the very best in his new career.
Taking on the responsibility of leading and managing the Corps whilst assisting the RAPTC Commandant as Vice Chairman of Trustees is Lt Col (SMAA) Tom Scarr RAPTC and on behalf of the Association members I wish him well for his tenure as the SMAA.
Welfare. The Association continues to provide benevolence support for our members who have fallen on hard times and welfare grants to support the wellbeing of our members. The
number of requests for grants is down on last year which could mean we do not have any members who require assistance but I suspect this is because our members are too proud to ask for support and see it as a sign of weakness. This should not be the case as the Association is a charity set up speci cally to help anyone who has served in the Corps and if they nd themselves in times of need pride should not get in the way of asking for help. All correspondences regarding welfare and benevolence requests are dealt with in the strictest con dence so if you are aware of any Association members who are in need of help please contact the Regt Sec in the rst instance.
Association Branches. I have attended all the Association Branch dinners and regardless of the number of attendees they
