Spain with over two and a half thousand troops from Italy, UK, Spain, Norway, USA and Denmark participating. My role was to co-ordinate RSOI for the rst two weeks and then I was the Commanders MA for 4 weeks. My sanity was kept in check by Capt (MAA) Lisa Dunne who was our visits of cer. The Bde has also been training to take over as the EU BG.
Many Congratulations to the following RAPTCIs who were successful on the SSgt – WO2 Board, SSgt Hill, Pollock and Mann, and those successful on the Sgt – SSgt Board Sgt Newman, Payling, Scaife and Watson. Also congratulations to SSgt Stephenson on receiving the Pearson Trophy and SSgt Pollok on receiving a Corps Sergeant Majors Coin.

2ND BATTALION THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT
SSgt (SSI) C Armstrong RAPTC
Having only taken over the Battalion in August 2015 it has been a baptism of re integrating with their new role in respect to A2020. The Battalion has recently undergone a
role change into a Light Mechanised Battalion a change that was

new to everyone. It has had an impact on the way the Battalion operates and how they use their equipment, with that being said I have had to tailor the Battalions PD policy to re ect this.
To give me a greater understanding of the functionality the soldiers needed in their new Light Mech role I deployed with them on exercise Wessex Storm in Jan-Feb 16. This would give me rst-hand experience of what the soldiers do while completing objectives whether it be on exercise or operations.
I deployed with CO’s TAC and spent most of my time 1 step behind the lead ghting company.
This gave me great perspective of the role being undertaken. It was a great opportunity for me but it was still a 5 week infantry exercise split between Otterburn and Salisbury Trg areas and let’s just say it wasn’t warm, dry and sunny!
Needless to say my skill fade in the areas of soldiering became apparent when it took be a couple of attempts to put my ri e sling on!
