5Armoured Medical Regiment have had another busy year with Regimental commitments, adventurous training and sporting achievements to name a few. The individual talent
within the unit is incredible, but collectively it is immense. The morale is kept high with sport prominent on the agenda. The unit participated in the Coltman Stretcher race in aid of The Royal British Legion. This annual race commemorates the life of LCpl Bill Coltman, a stretcher bearer from WW1. Each team carries a loaded stretcher across the Malvern Hills covering 11km and a 600 meter ascent.
The Regimental football team left it late in the AMS Harwood cup nal in the gruelling heat of Portsmouth to clinch a fth successive win. Jose Mourinho has nothing on the team manager/coach Capt

So another 12 months ies by and the pace at 1 CS continues at 100mph. With continuous work
and trawls for Op TORAL, TEMPERER and SHADER along with Exercise Wessex Storm and Trident Juncture, the Battalion FOE was bursting at the seams, so just for good measure, during 2016 Exercise Askari Tempest was also tted in. The can do attitude of the Battalion ensures that whilst very busy everything carries on as normal. We have an abundance of AAPTIs that deliver fantastic training to the companies which allows myself to run an extremely successful rehabilitation group which has seen a high percentage of soldiers returning to Medically Fit to Deploy (MFD) in good time.

On the subject of AAPTIs, our very own Sgt ‘Harry’ Potter successfully transferred into the RAPTC during December 2015, also winning top student of the course. We wish him well. We had 3 AAPTIs attend January 2016 selection, one successful, the other two asked to return in the not too distant future. Both are determined to go that extra mile the next time!!!!
On the sporting front we have ensured that we have entered the majority of UK North sporting events and in doing so were crowned UK North Waterpolo Champs, nished Runners-Up in the UK North Tennis Champs whilst nishing 3rd and sometimes last place in various
sports competitions, (let’s not mention the PTI volleyball team).
We continue to throw ourselves into different charity events and through excellent Battalion support, I managed to scale the equivalent height of Mount Everest (5.5 miles) by climbing up and down a 10 metre cargo net which took just over 7 hours to complete, all of which was in aid of Save The Children with £1600 raised.
So as you can see another busy year for the Battalion with ‘Champions’ doing that little bit more’.

Gladiators
Nige Bamford RAMC. Echo’s of ‘NIGIE MOURINHO’ billowed around the pitch as the team celebrated the emphatic win!!!
The UK North Festival of Sport produced some awesome talent and close competition. 5 Armoured Medical Regiment came runners overall. The gladiators shone through and did the unit proud.
The men’s Tug of War event separated the men from the boys as we went on to win the event.
