The latest task the Bn has completed is building a beacon to celebrate the Queens 90th Birthday on Scald Law the highest peak in the Pentland hills; this was a physical test and shows how adaptable the Jocks are to any task given.
The look forward for the Bn now is several homecoming parades, both a Bn and Regimental boxing competition, sports concentration and the Royal Regiment of Scotland Rugby 7s prior to summer leave, following that A Coy will conduct the Royal Guard from Aug – Oct and then the Bn will go back to Kenya for Ex Askari storm Jan 17.
I am due to leave 2 SCOTS in the near future and can honestly say it has been a fun and challenging experience, with both highs and lows, ups and down. The Bn has some great spirited soldiers and I wish them all the best in the future.

Over the past 12 months, Headquarters 160th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Wales
has continued to go from strength to strength, in both its commitment to UK and Overseas Operations and its Defence Engagement responsibilities. On my arrival in October of last year, having been in the post for 5-days I was deployed on Ex CAMBRIAN PATROL as the Visits Of cer. Having been in situ only 4-weeks before me, both myself and QMSI ‘Geordie’ Fernandez were responsible for brie ng and co-ordinating all VIP and Unit Commander Visitors to the exercise. For those of you who are unaware Ex CAMBRIAN PATROL is the biggest patrolling event in the world; it is
drills, CBRN and a constant threat of enemy attack. Disappointingly more than one third of the teams entered failed to complete the exercise. Routinely this is due to lack of preparedness and lack of physical and mental stamina. A robust and challenging physical tness programme developed over a period of 3-4 months is essential for the teams to successfully complete the event. The PD Branch would be more than willing to advise and assist any Unit RAPTCIs on developing a training programme should they wish to enter a Unit team in this event in the future.

the British Army’s premier patrol exercise that takes place each year over the Brecon Beacons. Cambrian Patrol is an outstanding test for infantry soldiers, with a record number of entries this year from 120 British Army Regular and Reserve patrols and 20 entries for International teams. Armed with a set of orders, the eight-person teams manoeuvre across tough terrain to a number of drop-off points in the daunting Black Mountains. They face a two-day exercise, with troops marching across a gruelling 55-kilometer course carrying personal kit weighing 30kgs. Navigating by day and night the patrols are tested on a number of scenarios on route, such as observation, reconnaissance, river crossing, rst aid
