Building a Database

              4. Building a Database

Before adding any organizations, plants and/or assets to the database, it is usually
helpful to plan what structure of the database will be most helpful for you to organize the
data. A database to organize company-wide data from dozens of assets is very different
from a database that contains data from a couple of assets at a single plant. The database
structure can be as complicated or as simple as needed. The only restriction is that there
must be at least one organization or plant.

              4.1. Adding Organizations
To add an organization to the database:

                          • Select the node that the organization will be a part of in the database. This can be
any of the main database node, a plant node or another organization node.

                          • Press the ‘New Organization’ button on the ribbon or right-click on the node and
select ‘Add Organization’ in the context menu. This will bring up the organization
                              properties.
