IN BRIEF

                                                                       P h o t o P i e r r e A l bouy, UN
We just learned that the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva,
Michael Møller, will retire at the end of June 2019. He carried high the colors of our
            organization in Geneva.

It is regrettable that he will not participate in the 75th anniversary of the UN next year.

I found this text that describes it so well:

“We leave the management of our planet to these young people. They must
learn, understand how it works. Above all, they must understand the issues
that are bigger and more and more existential. We leave them a planet that is
a little ill, we really have to give them all the tools possible and imaginable so
that they can achieve their ends.”

Please find below the information about the future Director-General of UNOG:

                                                                                       Odette FOUDRAL

            Dear Colleagues,

The Secretary-General, António Guterres, has announced the appointment of
Ms. Tatiana Valovaya of the Russian Federation as the next Director-General of the
            United Nations Office at Geneva.

I welcome the appointment of my successor and wish her every success in meeting the
challenges ahead. I particularly welcome the first woman Director-General of the United
            Nations Office at Geneva.

Given the importance of Geneva as the UN’s operational hub, and the vast network of
Geneva-based organizations working globally for peace, rights and well-being,
