handling heritage documents.
The wide variety of collections handled meant that the teams had to have a wide range
of skills and expertise, given the different formats of the documents processed: unbound
documents, photographs, large-format maps and plans, objects, Kardex cards, etc.
The digital images were then enhanced with technical metadata and character
recognition software (OCR) in different languages to enable full-text searches for the
benefit of Internet users.
