100 Reflections that Crafted Geneva International

To make a choice was not an easy task. Not only had the building to be
impressive in scale and quality, but its structure had to fulfil a series of practical
needs. Furthermore, the building, as a material symbol of the unity of nations,
could not exclusively reflect any one national character or epoch. However, the
attractiveness of this exhibition is precisely contained in its exceptional variety.
It reflects many schools and trends of the architecture of that time. A selection
of 15 sets of the original plans and 20 scale models of these projects,
representing the most popular and original architecture of the period between
the two world wars, have been reconstructed for our perusal. It is also
noteworthy that the final project of the Palais des Nations was a truly
international undertaking. It was prepared by a team of architects comprising
Julien Flegenheimer from Switzerland, Henri-Paul Nenon and Camille Lefevre
from France, Carlo Broggi from Italy, and Joseph Vago from Hungary.

I would like to express my deepest thanks and congratulations to Professor
Mariani and his team from the Architectural Institute of the University of
Geneva without whom this project would never have been possible. I would
like also to thank Mr. Dominique Föllmi for his constant support.

Last but not least I would like to express our gratitude to all those who
have worked in the background, to those dedicated people who provided the
logistical support and ensured the preparation of an exciting event.

May I now invite you to take advantage of this most interesting presentation.
