                     Andrew Skurka’s Alaska-Yukon Expedition

On March 14, 2010, Andrew Skurka walked out of
the town of Kotzebue in northwest Alaska to begin an

with him. His plan was to complete the journey mostly
by hiking and skiing. He used the raft to cross rivers. He
did not take any trains or ride in any cars or buses on his
route. The route took him through several national parks,

see a single village or road. During his journey, he faced some serious challenges. For example,
in some places the snow was very deep and too soft for skiing. However, he managed to complete
the journey. On September 5, 2010, he arrived back in Kotzebue. His trip took 176 days.
