Fatima’s Blog: Ocean News and Views
Hi everyone! I’m on a diving tour of Southeast Asia. The diving is breathtaking! I’ll post some
photos when I have more time.
In this blog I will share photos of my trip as well as ideas about the ocean and ways to protect
it. I’m going to write about a new topic each week. My first post is about the future of coral
reefs. Sharks are Not Your Enemy! is coming next week, so stay tuned! My goal is for everyone to
enjoy the photos and learn ways to help protect our oceans and the animals in them. I hope, for
example, that after you read this first post, you will never use another plastic bag and you
will avoid all toxic sunscreens. Enjoy!
Post 1: The Future of Coral Reefs

scientists, they are in danger. We must change our behavior if we want them to survive. Some
experts predict that a large percentage of the world’s coral reefs will not exist in the year 2050.
Will people change their behavior before it’s too late? Here are some facts about coral reefs,
and a few things you can do to help protect our oceans:
A coral reef looks like an underwater
garden, but corals are animals not plants.
