How can you not love Barney Gaylord whose
websit e st at es t he following as his mission:
"This web site is dedicated to the proposition
of having obscene amounts of fun with your
Little British Car. Fortunately this does not have
to include spending obscene amounts of
money. The less time and money you spend on
tinkering, the more you have left for driving, so
the philosophy is heavily loaded toward
maintaining your own car. There's even a short
section on Grapes of Wrath repairs for the very
frugal and that rare case of emergency."
"It was a ?no brainer? when I found out that Carl George was
willing to host us at his garage so we immediately switched
locations and asked Todd to invite interested club members, "
said Russ describing how the pop-up opportunity took shape.
" As most of our club knows, Carl is a huge fan of MGAs and one
of our most gracious members. Seeing Barney and Carl together
was truly an epic event," Welty added.
On short notice an email to the membership produced a good
number of people who shared a passion for the MGA and some
who were just interested in meeting Barney, a man who is living
the dream.
Barney would be the most fascinating homeless person I've ever
met except for the fact that he considers his MGA his home. His
nine year continuous road trip has taken him Alaska to Florida
and coast to coast until he finally arrived on our doorstep in
Franklin, Tennessee. What a great visit," Wlty concluded. .
Above: You can never have too many of a good thing as
the number of MGAs in Carl George's garage proves. At
the center Carl shows off the engine in one of his vintage
16
racers.
