A return to reasonable weather, if only for two days, It appeared to be Jaguar Day in Brentwood, with a
meant that cars and drivers made a great showing variety of e-types, convertibles and coupes,
on the third Saturday of June, the traditional date for saloons, in a variety of colors, including an unusual
NBCC's Cars and Coffee get together. Put on your fawn body with a biscuit interior. That car caught
bermuda shorts and plimsols, break out the ball the attention of David Weilmuenster, a recently
caps and sunglasses, carry a lawnchair and find joined member and the proud owner of a 370Z.

David is presently looking for his own British car.

He inspected, closely, the instrument panel and
        fall.
when the owner turned up, asked him what the
The AMC parking lot saw a good turnout of a large button in the center of the dash did. Much to
variety of cars, including a young driver with a full his surprise, Chip Stans pulled out the black button
head of carefully styled hair and a great tan, who to reveal a regulation size cigar lighter, something
cruised slowly up and down the lanes in a black, top you don't see in cars these days. The ash tray ,
down, McLaren with a throaty exhaust. He looked however, is miniscule. Perhaps flicking ash into the
nonchalant in a studied way, but you could see his air was the preferred disposal method in the day.
eyes cutting back and forth as he hoped that
someone noticed he was piloting a supercar .

Oh, to be young, and still concerned about making
an impression! (Being of pragmatic frame of mind, I
wondered how he was making the car payment
since he didn't look old enough to be gainfully
employed. An NBCC'er offered that he'd heard kids
could make a lot of money these days on Youtube
and the Internet. This was much kinder than my
original ideas of where he got the cash to be flash.).
Although we had plenty of military veterans in our
group, talking and watching the cars roll by, clearly
none of them had ever been recruiters. No one
hopped up, jumped in front of the slow moving
McLaren, and invited its driver to sign up for the
NBCC-- a missed opportunity as we work on bringing
younger people into the car culture that we hold
Chip Stans' fawn colored e-type with its biscuit
dear. The McLaren, after all, is distinctly BRITISH, still,
interior could never disappear into the scenery.
and you should never miss an opportunity to add to
the tally of members on the roll. More Cars and Coffee on page 40
