Here's a pic of my 1948 MG TC.
It's in the garage on dollys as I have a two car garage but keep three cars in it; to park the TC, I have to
jack it up onto the dollys and roll it to the middle between two other cars.
I bought the car about 12 years ago from a lady in Burlingame, California, after a six month search for
the right car. I was wanting a TC that required either light restoration or one that was restored but
needed some re-commissioning. I had called a guy in Dallas, and he put me onto a guy in Phoenix who
put me onto someone in LA who introduced me to a guy in northern California who said he knew of two
for sale. One required full restoration and one had been restored some years earlier, but had been
sitting in a garage, unused for some years.
I didn't want to do a full resto so I contacted the seller of the restored car. The lady told me her
husband had passed away and she had kept the car since his passing but now wanted to sell it. She also
told me that they had taken the car to England in the '90s with a group of other TC owners and toured
England for a month. After their return they had the car partially restored, engine rebuild (?) and
paintwork.
After we agreed a price, I had the car inspected by a local British car repair shop, who said it was in good
condition. At the time, I didn't have an opportunity to out to California so I bought it unseen. I had it
shipped to Nashville, and proceeded to do a 'tidy up'. The dynamo (generator) needed a rebuild, and
also since acquiring the car I've done other restorative and service work.
I an Levirtt.
