Henry, continued from page 51

They drove , top down, moving through Henry's
gears, passing through sunlit towns and villages, a
golden couple on a golden journey.
It's easy to imagine them as the stars of their own
road trip movie, looking a bit like the young Albert
Finney and Audrey Hepburn in the classic film
"Two for the Road" (minus the arguments and
sniping in the film) They were, as Mark Twain once
        described American touring Europe, Innocents
        Abroad.
Life with Henry was an adventure, an experience
they would treasure for the rest of their lives.
When the European whirlwind tour was over, Tom
and Carolyn returned to London and arranged to
have Henry shipped back to the United States their Above: Back in the United States, Henry the
own port of call. (Steam ship Bill of Lading British emigre', looked at home posing the
documentation came with the transit). backdrop for this photo of Tom cuddling a cat.
The already well - traveled MGC added an
ocean voyage to his passport, heading to San
Francisco, California for Tom's new job, while
Carolyn, an aspiring actress, continued on to
New York to pursue her theatrical ambitions.

Time passed, as time does, and the love affair
turned into a proposal, a relocation to
Houston, Texas, a major location for Shell Oil,
and to marriage. Henry, of course, made the
trip to the Lone Star state with Tom. You don't
leave family behind on the west coast.

Busy careeers and "life" happened to the
couple and the little MGC had to take a back
seat to their new, more mature lifestyle. Tom
and Carolyn hated to see Henry beginning to
deteriorate for lack of attention and made a
        wise but hard decision.

In 2005 they decided to sell their no- longer-
new MGC to a couple who would care for him
and love him as they did. They also
transferred their wonderful memories and Above: Carolyn and Tom on their wedding day
pictures of their early years together to his new in Houston, Texas, showed that even in their
owners who took Henry on, not as a car, but choice of wedding attire they had their own
                                                                 sense of style.
