Former NBCC president Paul Thompson turned
up piloting a head-turning black on black late model
Corvette. Back in 2013 Thompson passed the gavel
as president to Chip Hanback, who passed the gavel
in 2021 to Todd Fontechia. The Hanbacks made this
drive in their stylish 2006 silver Jaguar sedan.
Jeff and Wanda Lane of the Lane Motor Museum
made everyone smile when they arrived in that
most French of all French cars, a Citroen 2CV. There
is no report that anyone checked to see if they were
carrying the required basket of eggs on its seat to
prove that the advertising about the 2CV's
astonishing suspension was true and not just a Gallic
point of pride.
Although 3.8 million 2CVs were made, you don't see
many of them on the roads in Tennessee, making
this example a rarity not in numbers but in
sightings. (More about the Citroen on p. 8)

and turns to make them interesting, combined
with spring green on the hillsides, trees just
beginning to bud, brilliant blue sky and crisp ( read
chilly) air meant that the first drive of the season,
led by Len Melanson, received rave reviews.
Also worthy of mention was the variety of cars
that arrived at the Leipers Fork gathering point.
MGs and Triumphs were ascendant, yet one of the
nicer attributes of the NBCC's membership is its
genuine welcome of cars that aren't of British
manufacture. It was obvious that no matter what
you were driving, you'd come to enjoy both open
