- The Devil Remains in the Small Details. Proud owner of wire wheels, you know what
must be done. Newer model, make sure that no brake dust is in sight. Dress your
tires. Polish your grill and all chrome pieces until they glisten in the sun (We hope
to have it on show day.). Headlights and tail lights should be sparkling. Ditto rear
view mirrors, door handles; even your license plate frame must be attended to.
Should you have badges attached to your car, make sure you've given them a clean
and a polish. Ensure your windshield wiper blades aren't tatty and remember that
window glass has two sides, both needing to be cleaned.
- For extra attention from enthusiasts, Be Creative in Display . If your car is a
restoration or a resto-mod, consider a signboard that shows before and after
pictures. A placard exhibited near any car telling something of its story or outlining
special features , unique to the car, is always welcomed by car show visitors.
- Make your display interactive. Perhaps you have a copy of the original bill of sale or
advertising literature from the period. Perhaps you have vintage photos that show
the car in its early years. Set out those photo albums because this is the one time
when people are actually eager to see them.
- Be available to talk to people about your car. Nothing beats personal interaction
and remember that a car show is the time to start newcomers on the road to classic
car appreciation. Be a good ambassador, as well as a good sportsman.
- Preparation complete, enjoy the day and your fellow enthusiasts' cars. After all,
that's the reason you all entered your cars in the show.
