Copake Veterinary Hospital
Serving the Tri-State area since 1947 when
Dr. John Mettler
returned from his WW II army service and
purchased a house on Maple Lane in Copake Falls
to begin a veterinary practice in his kitchen.
Dr. Mettler also owned a farm in North Hillsdale.
Pets in the Park
On Saturday, August 18th, the Copake Grange did it again -
the 2nd Annual Pets in the Park day was a huge success! The
animals of Copake were looking their best and were center
stage at the event. Precious pets arrived and were registered in
the competition by their owners. Of course, there were dogs
(no cats this year) but they were joined by some more exotic
friends: bearded dragons, chickens, goats, and cockatoos, to
name a few.
The judges of the competition were totally unbiased, as
unbiased as a contestant's “parent” can be. “Votes” were
bought by participants and onlookers and the animal with the
most “votes” (really just little tickets) was the winner. Maybe
not an entirely democratic approach but it was a good way of
raising money for the Grange and Gina’s Animal Rescue.
Pets in Park ended with its now famous Pet Parade. Proud
owners were looking at their beloved, little ones but the pets
seemed to be more interested in looking at each other
