It is the wish of the COMMUNITY that all who visit the Abbey and estate to find a “haven for
personal reflection where one can contemplate the love of God and his place in their lives”.
Saint Benedict of Nursia and his sister Saint Scholastica are regarded by both the church and
many scholars as key figures in early Christian monasticism. Saint Scholastica, based upon
centuries of tradition, is considered the twin sister of Saint Benedict, who wrote the Rule of
St. Benedict, a guide to Christian living and monastic life. Scholastica is the patron saint of
Benedictine women’s religious communities.
