                                Sleep Is Good!







                 Sleep is the best meditation.
                                                         — Dalai Lama



             Do you think you believe you are getting enough sleep? Can you recall
             the last time you woke up without an alarm clock, feeling refreshed, not
             needing caffeine? If the answer to either of these questions is no, you are
             not alone. More and more people seem to be having trouble sleeping.
             The overuse of technology, fears, stress, and being overly busy all con-
             tribute to sleep deprivation issues.
                Not getting a good night’s sleep leads to more stress, exhaustion, and

             even health issues. Getting enough sleep is essential for one’s well-being;
             it’s equally as important as eating nutritious food and getting enough
             exercise.
                We are such a nation of doers that we tend to burn the candle at
             both ends. We sometimes forget that sleep is good! One of the benefits
             of getting a good night’s rest is increased mental clarity and focus; we
             are able to concentrate more fully on each day’s tasks. Getting enough

             sleep also lessens certain health risks and prevents depression. Sleep
             recalibrates our emotional brain allowing us to navigate next social and
             psychological challenges with calm.
