Practice Test Science (40 minutes, 35 questions): Measures the interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem-solving skills required in the natural sciences
• Identify why skills tested on ACT Science are relevant to career and postsecondary plans
• Understand and apply knowledge of the structure and format of the ACT Science Test

§ Earth/space sciences (geology, astronomy,
meteorology)
o Thetesthassevenpassagesandeachoneisconveyedin
one of three different formats:

§ Conflicting viewpoints: 15-20%
o Thetestcontentparallelsinformationcommonlytaught in science courses for grades 7-12 but emphasizes scientific reasoning skills rather than recall of science content. Extensive knowledge of these subjects is not required.
o Questionsmayrequiremathematicalreasoningbutdo not rely on math skills.
o Calculatorsarenotallowedonthissubtest.

o Identifyingthecorrectanswerdoesnotrequire understanding all scientific terms in the text.
o Developcomfortandfamiliaritywiththepacerequired for the science subtest (speed and efficiency are required to complete this sub-test).

Performance Analysis and Reflection (should occur after each practice test and throughout) – includes potential solutions to improve performance and should address:
o Fatigue
o Anxiety
o Nervousness
o Pacing/TimeManagement
