P. 11
"...Let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin
that so easily trips us up..."
- Hebrews 12:1 (NLT)
Each of us has vices in life - struggles, negative emotions, bad habits that
act as roadblocks on our path to righteousness. In our own might it is an
impossible feat to combat and gain complete victory over these
things. What a blessing it is to know we are not in this fight
alone. Something as simple as humbling oneself and seeking the help of
the Lord, relinquishing every burden, every struggle, every sin over to
Him, can bring about a sure victory.
Though it might not be the most pleasant experience, change and growth
never are, the rejuvenation and restoration you will experience are most
certainly worth it. Being willing to make the necessary changes in your
life, operating in obedience to God's word, and trusting Him every step
of the way, will lead to the fulfilling life we all seek.
Psalm 126 attests to the overwhelming joy that awaits on the other side
of every trial, test, oppression, discomfort, and treacherous path we find
ourselves on. "Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy."
(Psalm 126:5)
May we go into this season reflecting upon the areas we need to see
growth, change, and maturity. May we avail ourselves to the process
and commit to putting in the work to obtain the restoration we seek. Just
as He conquered death, hell and the grave, may our hearts be prepared to
rejoice in the victory that awaits.
