The Reasons for using Flip Builder :

In late 2020, our Battalion required their Company’s to produce Storyboards for their Training

Weekends. My interpretation for the reason of this, was to inform other Battalion and Company

members who weren’t present on that weekend, what training had been taking place and hopefully
encouraging them to attend future events.

The preferred method of producing the Storyboards, were by creating them on Powerpoint, then

dropping them into Defence Connect for personnel to view them their. With the sometimes heavy
post traffic that takes place on Defence Connect, the Storyboards would quickly work there way

down the news feed, meaning that they could be easily missed.

After a while the Storyboards were created still using Powerpoint and uploaded onto Defence

Connect, but this was changed to converting them to PDF so they could not be altered. The PDF

Storyboard was then sent as an attachment in the Company’s weekly email, enchasing the
possibility of them being read.

While reading the monthly edition of Soldier Magazine, it was noted that they read like an e-book,
further research indicated that they were using a type of Flip Builder. After trailing the free version

of Flip Builder that was full of adverts, the software was purchased by the Company to remove the

adverts. The software now allows the Company to deliver Storyboards by email, What's App,

Messenger and upload online.
