Patients Albie and Daniel joined HRH to open the new facility
In March, HRH the Countess of Wessex joined young patients to officially open a cutting edge diagnostic and operating facility for Leeds Children’s Hospital.
that additional procedures may be required. Patients need fewer general anaesthetics, MRI scans and surgical procedures.
HRH was joined on the visit by the many teams who have worked tirelessly to make this facility a possibility. Two very special guests - four year old Albie Carroll and 15 year old Daniel Morton - also joined the Countess to unveil the official plaque.
Carin van Doorn, Consultant Cardiac Surgeon and Clinical Lead for Congenital Cardiac Surgery said: The new facility is purpose built and designed
specifically for the care of children and young people, which gives us a dedicated space to perform this very complex and specialist surgery. It wouldn’t be possible without the support of Leeds Cares and the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund who have campaigned tirelessly to raise vital funds and to support us in providing the best possible care.
