The Main Performance
In the pedestrian mall many different music performances take place-
classical music, South American music, opera and jazz.
One of the famous singers who sings every week in Nachalat Binyamin
is Miri Aloni. Miri Aloni (who was at the peak of her career in the 70’s)
is known today mainly because she sang “a song for peace” together
with Yitzchak Rabin RIP on the night Rabin was murdered.
Miri Aloni began to sing in Nachalat Binyamin pedestrian mall in 2003
as a protest about large budget cuts for culture.
Over time Miri Aloni fell in love with the audience who came to hear
her in the pedestrian mall, and from then until today she performs there
every Tuesday and Friday.
Many neighbors who live on the street, and around it, don’t like Miri’s
performances and complain to the police and to Tel Aviv municipality
about the noise, but both Miri’s audience, and Miri herself know that
the music can’t be stopped anymore.
