Mount Zion Hotel and the Turkish Hamam

The Hamam is a bath. The Hamam was a place for Muslim religious
ceremonies of purifying and cleansing of the body, and also a place for
social gatherings.
There were many baths in Jerusalem. Both Jews and Arabs bathe there,
because there are no showers in (people’s) homes.
Hot water flow from the walls into little pools. The bathers sit near the
pool, pour hot water on themselves and enjoy the hot fumes in the room.
