The Drama at Hadassah
The crisis at Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital reached the Prime Minister’s
desk today, after pleas by his wife Sarah and Knesset Members.
Netanyahu announced he will intervene in the crisis in the hemato-
oncological ward and set a meeting between the doctors and Health
Minister Litsman. One after the other, the stand-in doctors at Hadassah
hospital stood in front of the cameras today. Six doctors and three interns
resigned from the hospital last week, in protest of hospital manager Prof.
Zeev Rotstein’s decision, they claim, to defer pediatric surgeries to adult
wards and prefer surgeries for children from abroad hospitalized within
private medicine. The Hadassah crisis also reached the Knesset hallways,
when Knesset Members Ayelet Najmias-Verbin and Yehuda Glick called
on Netanyahu to intervene in the crisis. He on his part, replied on his
Facebook page that he already has. Now Minister Litsman calls on the
doctors who left the hospital to summarize their demands in order to try
and convince them to come back to the hospital.
