Treasures of the National Library
Today one can buy books at any store, and we usually send letters by e-
mail. But in the past each book or letter was a one-time thing. At the
National Library in Jerusalem (they) keep rare and expensive treasures
from all over the world. For instance, the original text of ‘Hatikvah’, or
writings by S. Y. Agnon. In the Judaic collection there are things that
Maimonides wrote in his own handwriting as well as a thousand year old
Bible, which (they) safeguarded at the Jewish community in Damascus.
Soon the National Library will move to a new building, and there anyone
who will want to would be able to see these treasures, read (them), be
moved.
