What To Do with the Terror
In the Arab neighborhoods in East Jerusalem (they) started feeling today
what’s being called a ‘breathing quarantine’. Existing roadblocks at the
entrance to the neighborhoods were reinforced with more soldiers and at
the entrances where no soldiers were placed, police or border police were
placed. Residents tell us today that this quarantine will only lead to the
opposite result. At Jabel Mukaber from which the terrorists set out for the
horrible attacks in Jerusalem yesterday, the tension was felt even more
strongly. And this too is a part of the new reality in east Jerusalem,
suddenly a Jewish man enters with an Israeli flag into the Arab
neighborhood. Border police fighters immediately realize the volatile
potential and demand that he leaves, with the soldiers escorting the car. All
in all it seems that the ‘breathing quarantine’ in the Arab neighborhoods in
east Jerusalem is achieving its purposes for now, preventing conflict and
deterring terrorists. Residents at east Jerusalem tell us that in due time,
neither a breathing nor a full quarantine, will be able to prevent a
Palestinian youngster who decides to commit a terror attack in his own
mind, from realizing his intents.
