Residents in Rural Areas
In two thousand eleven the state of Israel signed an agreement with intern
doctors. According to the agreement, doctors who will do their residency
in rural areas will get three hundred thousand NIS. This agreement was
supposed to strengthen medicine in rural areas and it really did succeed,
and one thousand eight hundred excellent doctors chose to do their
residency in the Negev and Galilee. But the government decided to cancel
these grants next year. Dr. Shany Kaptsin left Hezliya and moved to Be’er
Sheva with her family, in order to work at the Soroka hospital. But she
probably won’t get the money that was supposed to help her start a new
life.
