Unit 4 – Start Food Shopping in Hebrew
Rachel: The diets I did before cost me much more. Once I went to a
dietitian. I paid for every appointment and as I left her clinic I used to
go into a candy shop by the bus stop, buy myself a package of
waffles and eat the whole thing [liquidate] before the bus even
arrived. This time I decided to pull myself together. I can't look at
myself in the mirror any more and my clothes are too small for me.
Tania: These flash diets (that are) fast and drastic are very unhealthy
and even dangerous. Instead of doing a quick diet, you need to
change your eating habits. To eat healthy food with lots of vitamins
and a small amount of calories: vegetables, fruit, low-fat dairy, lean
meat and a little fats and carbohydrates- that is a little flour, sugar,
bread, cakes, noodles… And if you want to get thin, you need to
burn more calories. You need to do physical activity. You need to do
sports.
Rachel: Believe me, Tania, that I know all the theories, I can have a
Ph.D. on diet. Do you know how many kilograms I lost all my life?
Hundreds! My problem is willpower. When I see the variety at the
supermarket or in the fridge- I just can't restrain myself.
Tania: Restrain?
Rachel: To restrain is not doing what you really want to do at that
moment. For example, now I want another slice of the cake but I
restrain myself.
Tania: Good for you! You do have willpower. Take just one more
little piece.
Rachel: Mmm…. It's great…really good. Fattening? Is there butter?
Sweet cream? You've got to give me the recipe, if not to eat then at
least to write down the recipe.
Tania: From writing down one doesn’t get fat.
Rachel: You tell me- how can you stop yourself from eating a cake
like this?
Tania: Eat without thinking. If you ask me you are not fat at all.
