Unit 4 – Start Food Shopping in Hebrew
Maimons' question
My parents force me sometimes to eat all kinds of things that I
don’t like. I argue with them, but it doesn’t help. What to do?
Thank you- Maimon
The Psychologists Response
Hello Maimon,
One possibility is to do what [that] your parents force you to do,
and to eat all the foods that you don’t like. After all, these are
your parents, they worry about you [for you] and want you to be
healthy and [that] your body will be strong. You see that the
arguments aren’t efficient, they just taint the atmosphere and
cause an unpleasant feeling. Perhaps it’s worth simply giving
them up and eating what they tell you to eat.
Another possibility is to try to reach some sort of middle point:
sit down together and figure out between yourselves, without
anger, how efficient is the food you are demanded to eat. You’ll
be able to explain to them your feeling, and perhaps you’ll be
able to reach some kind of compromise in the dosage and the
frequency of the foods that you don’t like. Perhaps you’ll get a
certain compensation when you eat these foods, or (any) other
compromise you will get to. That way you will be satisfied, and
your parents will be satisfied.
Good Luck!!
